2019 in review

With the start of the new year, let’s take a moment to review 2019. Below, a summary of the most important events of the past year

Capital Funding by LRM

In May 2019, we reached an important milestone in the evolution of our business. BooLoc raised 2 million EUR which will allow us to further expand and scale our international sales team, increasing our global presence in 2020 and beyond.

Expansion of the team

Our international growth also came with the hiring of new employees. Both Dries and Sofie now work at our HQ in Hasselt. Welcome to you both!

A strategic sales consultant was also recruited to represent BlooLoc in the DACH region. Welcome to the team, Thomas!

Projects

2019 was a bizzy year. Below an overview of some of our projects:

At Corda Campus (Hasselt - Belgium) we implemented our yooBee indoor navigation app in 2 buildings. With yooBee, searching for an office on campus is a thing of the past. The app navigates you flawlessly along the shortest route to the door handle of every company so that you will never get lost again. Read more about it.

yooBee navigation was also used during the ESC congress in Paris. More than 30,000 visitors were able to use yooBee to seamlessly navigate to booths or seminar sessions.

At the Jessa Hospital (Hasselt – Belgium) patients and visitors are testing yooBee navigation to guide them to every consultation room.

The Sint-Trudo Hospital (Sint-Truiden – Belgium) is currently testing various yooBee technologies. For example, a number of patients are wearing a wrist tracker which provides their real-time location. Further, we created a digital safe zone, which for example can be considered for patients who display wandering behavior, whereby when they leave this zone, an automatic alert is triggered. The Wrist Tracker can also detect a possible fall. With yooBee Smart Care, we want to create a safer environment for patients.

Trade shows & events

BlooLoc participated in various trade fairs & events in 2019 Below a brief overview:

• Zorg (Care) & ICT (Utrecht - The Netherlands): we launched yooBee Smart Care. We will also participate in 2020. Make sure to visit us!
• Zorg.Tech (Belgium)
• World Retail 2 Forum (Amsterdam – The Netherlands): we gave a keynote on how physical stores can use yooBee to improve customer experience.
• Miami Cruise Ship Convention (Miami - USA)
• IoT Convention (Mechelen - Belgium)
• Logistics & ICT (Utrecht - The Netherlands)

Also, not unimportant was an occasional moment of relaxation with the entire team. We organized a challenging teambuilding, enjoyed some nice dinners together and of course, had some after-work drinks on Friday.

We were able to end 2019 with an important milestone. We achieved CE, FCC and IC certification for the entire yooBee product range.

As icing on the cake, BlooLoc celebrated its 5th birthday in December. Hip Hip Hooray! As a gift to ourselves, we have launched a new website. Credits to Digital Talents!
