The ESC Congress is the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the largest medical congress in Europe. It gathers over 30,000 active participants (mainly cardiologists). This year’s edition was held together with the World Congress of Cardiology and showcased more than 500 sessions about cardiovascular science during the Five-day event. To help visitors with directions to these sessions, the organization chose to implement indoor navigation in their already existing app.

ESC Congresses Mobile App

ESC already used a mobile app for attendees to create a personal program and to prepare their congress experience.  The previous editions of the ESC congress only provided visitors with static floorplans as a guideline to booths and expert sessions. With the integration of BlooLoc’s yooBee indoor navigation solution, delegates can receive direct guidelines to reach their chosen destination via the shortest route. “We received a lot of positive feedback from our visitors about the new navigation feature in the app, so I think the project is overall a great success”, says Ghislain Daval, Director of projects and systems at the ESC.

No more getting lost at events

For event attendees, getting lost is a common problem. Many events are being held in complex venues with multiple levels and halls. “We believe that indoor navigation (compare this with GPS in a car, but now on a smartphone) at events is a game-changer. It truly changes the experience. Attendees can spend their time more efficiently and thereby ensures that they get the most out of their visit”, says Dirk Callaerts, CEO of BlooLoc. The navigation functionality allows users to search for event-specific categories such as booth numbers, company names, restaurants, meeting rooms, expert sessions, etc.  guiding them with easy instructions to these points of interest.
